Subhash Ghai’s winning combo of music and fresh faces

Subhash Ghai has been extremely successful with new faces and blockbuster songs. Whenever he has experimented with new faces and had excellent music to go with the film, the films have been box office super hits.

Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadhri were launched in the film Hero. The film had many hits such as the catchy ‘Ding dong’, ‘Tu mera janoo’, ‘Pyaar karne waale’ and ‘Lambi judaai’. The film went on to become a big blockbuster.

Then came Saudagar, where Ghai introduced Vivek Mushran and Mainsha Koirala. Here too, the music was top notch. The ‘Imli ka boota’ number in Saudagar added an element of affection to the war-like chemistry and ‘Ilu Ilu’ was the new anthem of love for the star-crossed lovers across the nation.

The blockbuster Pardes saw the entry of Mahima Chaudhry. In this film too, the music worked wonders. The song ‘Yeh Dil Deewana’ with an energetic performance by Shahrukh Khan matched with the melodious voice of Sonu Nigam became a lover’s anthem and the song ‘I love my India’ showcased Subhash Ghai’s love for his motherland.

Subhash Ghai’s latest film, Kaanchi, too has newcomers and the music is by Ismail Darbar and Salim Sulaiman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Another blockbuster on the cards…
